How to Create an At-Home Photoshoot!
"Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself." Coco Chanel
A lot has changed in the last two years, and all of us have been affected by it. I love spreading positivity and encourage improving self-love in others. I recently took on a new challenge for myself to help improve my self-love and confidence.
I started working with a modeling company. Joining a modeling company has been something that I have always wanted to do, but I had no confidence, and I was super busy with soccer at that time.
At this current time in my life, my confidence and self-love have improved tremendously, but I wanted to do something to help me grow even more.
The modeling company I joined is called Beauty In Me. With Beauty In Me, self-love is key. The Beauty In Me movement aims to empower women and build their confidence, self-esteem, and self-love through modeling. Beauty In Me's purpose is to show women that they are just as beautiful on the inside and outside, regardless of society's standards.
If you have read my other blog posts, you know that I am all about self-love and self-improvement. I am so happy that I can share my journey with all of you while sharing the challenges and tips to improve your self-love.
Enough about me; I will be sharing some easy steps to create an at-home photo shoot, so you can be creative, have fun, and learn more about yourself.
1. Find a space
Find a wall or space in your living area that you can set up a small photoshoot. You can use any area or room in your house or apartment.
2. Get your lighting
You can use natural light from a window to provide lighting for your photo. A spot lap is also a great way to provide lighting for you as well. In my photos, I used a ring light, which you can find on Amazon.
3. Figuring out what Camera to Use
Most cameras have self-timers if you are doing this photoshoot alone. You don't need to buy a tripod unless you want one. You can always put your camera on something sturdy to create the look you want. I took all of my photos with my iPhone, I find portrait mode makes my photos look more professional. My iPhone has a self-timer, but for some of my photos, I used a Bluetooth button that came with my ring light, which made it easier for me.
4. Set-up a Background
To create a backdrop, you can hang bedsheets on the walls or add any fabric you may have. I went to JoAnn Fabrics and found white fabric that was not see-through and on sale for my backdrop. You can use any design or color as your backdrop because this is all about you.
5. Be Yourself and Be Creative
My favorite part about at-home photoshoots is that you are the make-up artist, the designer, the set-up, and the photographer. When picking props and selecting make-up, I thought about my personality, emotions, and likes and dislikes. All of that brought the ideas of what I wanted to shoot. I added props like flowers, jewelry, sheer fabric, and face accessories to help bring out my ideas and creativity.
Here are some of my creations.

The at-home photoshoot I did was a challenge that Beauty In Me created for us models to challenge ourselves and embrace the love we have for ourselves. To see some of the amazing work the other models did for the challenge last week, check out @beauty.inme_ on Instagram.
